I have been working in the nursing informatics arena since 2004, and I was incredibly impressed by the breadth and depth of the content available. • The course was very satisfying and I hope I can complete the other courses over the next couple years towards my ANCC re-certification.

The modules were well thought out and it was designed so that the student can use and experience different applications. It's a good design in that it allows the student to learn at their own pace, a very good feature for those who work full time. The courses that I've completed from your site finished off the credits that I need to apply to test for certification. I wish I would have discovered the site earlier. This online class has allowed me to complete the requirements for CEUs in order to renew my certification in nursing informatics. Not only was the class informative but it was a time and money saver because it would have required multiple conference fees and travel expense to acquire a similar number of Informatics CEUs.

All the readings and the material provided were very helpful in providing an understanding of building a website for publication. The course actually went beyond expectations. June you are soooooo knowledgeable about Nursing Informatics, it is absolutely amazing. From the design of this course and what was included to the assignments we as students needed to complete - it has been a truly wonderful experience for me. This format was enjoyable and I certainly felt less pressure. Readings and websites were clearly available to access which made my learning experience even better. I loved the way the course was designed. It was easy to understand, user friendly and pleasurable to use. I would like to see more nursing courses offered in this format. This course and the way it was delivered was just terrific. All in all this was a great course and I definitely would think about taking future courses from this website!!

There was obviously a good deal of thought behind the module content and sequencing as each built upon the other. It was clear that there was an indepth understanding of the relationship of informatics, nursing process, workflow and patient outcomes. The readings and web site content suppported the concepts in each module very well. .

I am not a stranger to many of the concepts in the course modules, but I felt that upon completion, I was able to see them in a more cohesive manner. I was surprised at the amount of work that I put into each module. I had to exercise my brain in a good way and have found some paths that I want to explore further

Had a lot of good information, I plan on keeping my binder of info I printed off for a long time. The course emphasized things I already knew about the field of nursing informatics along with some new topics such as communities of practice. Also, it made me work on several projects that I will continue with after the course is over. The Moodle system is much better than previous online class systems I have used. Very good experience, I was able to work at my own speed. The instructor provided feedback and grades within a reasonable amount of time of my turning in assignments. I would recommend this course to any nursing informaticist interested in furthering his/her career and education.

The instructor's expertise was evident by having the student plan a competency they want to focus on this course. Then, as each course was presented, it builds on what's already learned from the previous topic. It is a great way to introduce Nursing Informatics to a new nurse who just started on their career as a Nurse Informaticist. I am glad I have taken this course. I have learned so much in such a short amount of time.

Having me focus on a competency helped me with my current project and also plan on a better user training. I surely hope that there would be more Nursing Informatics courses such as this that will be available

I took this course as I was looking for some continuing education in informatics in preparation for the nursing informatics certification. Although I went through the class very quickly, I never felt like I was under pressure to get it done. I believe I learned a great deal and there were many things that I can put into my daily practice. I liked how the modules were set up with the overview, readings then assignments. It was very easy and end-user friendly. All of the modules were set up to cover specifically targeted areas. The readings, forums, journals, assignments, etc. all tied together to their common theme.

I enjoyed the variety of ways to submit coursework as a student (blog, forums, uploading spreadsheets, etc). I have incorporated what I've learned in this course into my present job and have shared what I have learned with others. Also, the project I chose will directly benefit the project I am working on. I feel this has been a positive learning experience for me and certainly fits into my goal of being a life-long learner. I wanted to learn about Nursing Informatics, beginning at a basic level, and incorporate this knowledge into my present career. As a mother who works full-time outside of the home, it was very helpful to have a course that was self-paced. I think this was a great choice for earning my CEUs as well, since it relates to what I am doing at work.

The thoroughness and organization of the course content demonstrates the instructor's familiarity and expertise in the course topics. The course certainly was quite different from the usual academic approach. The hands on approach provided by the exercises, journaling and the project kept the course more interesting than on-line CE courses that provide only readings and a multiple choice post test. I will say that the course was more rigorous than I might have expected. This is good because it required a definite commitment and guaranteed that I learned a lot. I am confident that I have a solid base from which to take the certification exam.

The Moodle course management was very easy to use. The content layout was well organized. I particularly liked the Activities quick links on the left and used this section a lot to keep organized and to manage my progress with the various assignments for the modules.

. When I compare the course content to the Informatics test content outline from ANCC, this course definitely covers all the relevant information. This is my first experience with distance learning and pursuing a full on-line course except for 1-hour CEU offerings. It has taken me a little over 3 months to complete which is not bad for 13 modules. The self-paced approach has been beneficial since I was able to work very quickly in some content areas and to slow down when I needed to put more effort into the course or need time away. Some of the content was familiar to me while some was unfamiliar and unlikely that I would have delved into the area o my own. As I progressed through the course, I became more comfortable with journaling, which was a new experience for me. This course has helped ground me as I have switched careers from OR management to IT Clinical Analyst. It has prepared me well for completing my goal of certification

This course definitely met my expectations. I very much appreciated the wide range of topics that were covered. I had tended to be lock into my own little world of nursing informatics in which I work on a daily basis, and I needed to broaden my definition of nursing informatics as well as my knowledge base of many other aspects of the role of a nursing informaticist.

I found the online course management system very easy to use. I never had any problems with downloading or uploading materials. I really enjoy the independence that is afforded when using online courses that do not have set deadlines. I think the curriculum content definitely covers a wide range of topics related to nursing informatics. I took this course to prepare for the ANCC credentialing examination, and I feel it was a very good presentation of the materials that I need to study for this exam. No suggestions for improvement.

I have been very pleased with the learning experiences I have had in this course. I have exposed myself to applications which I probably would not have done otherwise. I have developed relationships in the educational arena that will definitely be an asset in the future and hopefully improve the curriculum content of our nursing school related to nursing informatics. This course exceeded my expectations in many ways. First, the many self-study continuing education programs that I have experienced have been mostly read this and take the test which is not the best method for learning to stick. Second, I liked the constructionist method of study because I enjoy creating my own learning. Third, this course challenged me to learn new technologies and to put them into practice now. Fourth, the course forced me to think about where I have been, where I am at and where I want to go which is very valuable exercise and not an activity we often engage in or encouraged to pursue. And lastly, this course helped me to see the possibilities of what Nursing Informatics can do to improve nursing and how I have so many options to be a part of this movement.

My experience in this course was that it was a very robust and action packed introduction to NI and was a great deal of work. However, I learned a lot and more than that learned how much I did not know which may have been the more important lesson. It has inspired me to continue my NI education and earn my MS in NI and to pursue a teaching career in the future. Having taken this course has helped me to realize new and innovative ways to help the nurses and other healthcare professionals that I work with implementing electronic medical records.
